A rare antique Chinese cloisonné Christian cross.

Cloisonné is an ancient technique where enamel is applied to metal, creating intricate designs by using thin wire to divide sections that are then filled with enamel. The result is a beautifully vibrant and durable surface with rich colors, often seen in traditional Chinese art forms like vases, jewelry, and decorative items.

In the case of a Christian cross, the incorporation of this technique in a Christian context is quite unusual, as it reflects a historical period when Christianity began to influence Chinese culture, particularly during the late Qing Dynasty (19th-early 20th century).
