"Exceptional Basket Chandelier In Gilt Bronze And Crystal - Empire Period"
Empire period basket chandelier (19th century). Central belt in chiseled bronze with small rosette patterns in seed crowned with 42 palmettes supporting 27 arms of light. A central rod, holding the entire structure, ends with a pine cone in solid bronze, finely chiseled and gilded. The lower part of the basket is made of concentric circles to which crystal pendants are attached. In the upper part, a wide bronze belt (with a rosette and foliage pattern with two flat rails) is topped with 21 palmettes. 24 garlands of crystal pendants join the two bronze belts. The chandelier is mounted with electricity only in its central part. 6 sockets with porcelain are fixed on the whales joining the central shaft to the gilded bronze belt. The 24 arms of light are in their original condition (neither pierced nor electrified). Dimensions: Height 150 cm / Diameter 105 cm Chandelier identical to those in the collection of Augusto Cattaneo (1754 - 1824) Duke of Termoli, 5th Prince of San Nicandro, Governor of the King of Naples and Sicily Ferdinand IV (1751 - 1825).
