Thailand, 1920s/1930s, in the Ayuttaya style (ancient kingdom of Siam), superb and important bronze Buddha head presented on a base. The face, of a beautiful finesse, reflects a deep serenity. This piece of fine quality is highlighted by a modern base made at the request of the last owner. He wears a headdress called "one hundred and eight snails". According to legend, these are said to have saved Buddha's life while he was sitting in the sun, immersed in deep meditation.
