"Lille Porcelain And Gilt Bronze Appliques – Ifn 19th Century"
Elegant pair of wall sconces, in Lille porcelain and gilt bronze, decorated with hand-painted scenes representing animated landscapes. Their rocaille decoration, with asymmetrical volutes and naturalist motifs, as well as the painted scenes inspired by the 18th century, recall the taste for elegance and fantasy specific to the Louis XV style. The finely chiseled bronze light arms, decorated with foliage and graceful curves, are typical of this style, widely revived in the 19th century under Napoleon III, the period when these sconces were probably made.
