Notre Dame De Paris: Niello Silver Box, Esmeralda And Her Goat, Circa 1840, Minerva

Illustration of the immediate success of novel Notre Dame de Paris, which Victor Hugo published in 1831, this pretty box, snuffbox shape, in silver, (Minerva hallmark), engraved and nielloed on its entire exterior surface, and still in good condition.
The lid is decorated with portraits of Frollo and Gringoire, framing Esmeralda, her goat tenderly in her arms which occupies the center, observed on bottom right by Quasimodo… resembles the painting in Victor Hugo's house, see last photo.
A beautiful object, you will agree!
Condition: as discovered, very difficult to photograph, but pleasant to see with your eyes and good also with a magnifying glass.
No flaw, only one small deformation on surface, no loss in black enamels, a lightwear on centre and below, as often, no marked scratch.
