"Moustiers Earthenware Service “aux Chinois” – 18th Century, Lacroix Workshop"
Set of 18th century Moustiers earthenware, decorated in the “Aux Chinois” motif in blue monochrome. This decoration, inspired by oriental influences, is characteristic of Moustiers production at this period. One of the pieces bears a cross, attributable to the Lacroix workshop in Moustiers. Composition of the service: • 7 plates (diameter: 23.5 cm) • 3 oval dishes (length: 34 cm) • 3 deep bowls (diameter: 22 cm) • 1 flat dish (diameter: 28 cm) Each piece has borders decorated with floral and leafy motifs, typical of the Moustiers rocaille style. The decoration is finely executed, with figurative scenes representing characters in Chinese dress. Condition and provenance: The pieces are in good general condition, with some signs of wear consistent with their age. No cracks or major restorations visible. Service from a private collection.
