Large Canton porcelain vase - China, late 19th century around 1880. It takes up the classic decoration of palace scenes with many picturesque characters and fantastic animals and polychrome butterflies. Very cheerful and colorful decoration, enhanced with fine gold gilding. The shaped pieces and vases in Canton porcelain were very successful in Europe at the end of the 19th century, imported from China in large quantities, shapes and formats. This vase belongs to the superior category: the porcelain is not white but slightly celadon in color, the palace scenes are in beautiful gilded frames, the colors and gilding are deep. It is also characterized by its giant size, more than 60cm high, which makes it an imposing and very spectacular piece.
