Large canvas of remarkable quality, very decorative.

Originally from the town of Commentry (Auvergne region), François Forichon was a student at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris and received instruction from Jean-Léon Gérôme (1824-1904). Around 1895, he was in charge of the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Nîmes, then director of the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Clermont-Ferrand around 1905. In 1891, he exhibited at the Salon a large view of his native region (Commentry) under the number 636.
