"School 1950 : “great Brutalist Christ”"
French school circa 1950: "Grand Christ brutaliste", wood 118 X 60 cm, crown of thorns and wrought iron nails. Extremely cussonné, roughly glued break at the feet, filling in the left armpit with wood paste. Despite its condition, this Christ carved from a single trunk exudes a spirit characteristic of the period... Great artists have worked in this neo-Roman spirit, but I have not seen a signature.
