"Charvet : Rare Marabout Coffee Pot In Solid Silver & Ivory Paris 1750"
Very rare Louis XV period solid silver marabout jug with flat base. Twist fluted bodys highlighted with leafy motifs on a textuted ground. The pot features a twist fluted lid surmounted by a finial representing a burst pomegranate on a bed of leaves, cut-out thumb rest, and a scrolled carved ivory side handle. Hallmarks (located on the body and thumb rest) of Charge and Discharge for PARIS 1750-56, Jurande Hallmark for PARIS 1750, later discharge and Countermark, and Hallmarks (body and partial on thumb rest) of the renowned Master Goldsmith Claude CHARVET (CC and a label) received in 1728, who was the privileged Goldsmith of the Duke of Orleans.
