Fine in every detail, painted in winter of 1882, this work belongs to the hand of highly skilled and well gifted artist. And unfortunately, I cannot identify him/her with given signature lower left. Young sitter here is using limited winter sunlight to read and being so excited by events of the story so everyone can observe how far had she flown in her thoughts. However, everything is accurate, clean and in the order at this warm cozy place full of confidence. This interior genre scene painted with heart and tender feeling to presumably family member. Antique oil painting on canvas.
Size app.: 53 x 44 cm (roughly 21 x 17 in). Overall in very good condition with minimal wear such craquelure, it is conserved recently with water-based varnish glue.
