Terracotta Statue By Raoul Aurili (1864-1943)

Terracotta by Ricardo AURILI (1864-1943) "Lion on the lookout" in terracotta with a golden patina, it rests on a part that imitates rock.
Terracotta in good condition, the lion's eyes are made of glass. From 1893, AURILI regularly participated in numerous exhibitions.
He was present at the Universal Exhibition in Paris (Hôtel des Invalides) with a project by Ettlinger. His works from his Parisian period contain both artistic and commercial sculptures and statuettes. A transition to art nouveau is perceptible. He is best known as a sculptor of busts and works inspired by mythology and classical history, such as his gladiator Ave Cesar of which he made several versions, and the bust Desdemona, made in 1900.
