Pair of Louis XVI period candlesticks in blue turquin marble and gilded bronze, signed Henri PICARD 19th century. Henri Picard, gilder and bronzier, settled in Paris from 1831 to 1839, Rue Jarente and from 1840 to 1864, Rue de la Perle. He was commissioned by Napoleon III to produce the gilding that adorns his apartments at the Palais du Louvre. Bronzesmith of art and furniture, he produced very diverse objects and pieces, in a very high quality of gilded bronze chasing such as centerpieces, candelabras, sconces and fireplace fittings. He gained his reputation and became a supplier to the entire bourgeoisie of the time.
