"Good God, What A Devil"
Jean Mulders was a Belgian artist born in Averbode in 1913. He was a painter and pastellist. He was inspired by the landscapes and inhabitants of his own country, Spain, Morocco, but especially Zaire and black Africa. Appeared at the Petite Galerie in Brussels in 1961, at the Lucidel gallery in Mons in 1962, at the Galerie La Meuse in Namur in 1963, at the Arts en Europe in Brussels in 1972 and 1973. Work for the Museum of Mons (La belle sorcière, pastel on unalit, acquired at the Lucidel Gallery in Mons in 1962). Work of fishermen on the Congo River sold at auction by the Vanderkindere room in Brussels in 2012. Mentioned in BAS I and Deux siècles de signatures d'artistes belges. (PIRON) Once the introductions are made: we look at his painting signed and dated 1944, then we like it or we don't. But we have to admit that he knew how to make the guy. Oil on canvas in perfect condition in its black and gold frame as is.
