"Silver And Crystal Mustard Pot, France 1809-1819"
Mustard pot with two handles in cast, embossed and chased silver, resting on a square base decorated with palmettes, mounted on four feet in the shape of cherubs' heads with butterfly wings. The openwork and cut-out mount is made up of a rosette of palm leaves, two pilasters ending in busts of women each holding a crown of flowers, and a ring decorated with a frieze of water leaves in the upper part. The hinged lid is flat and has a nipple in the center ending in a gland. The handles with leafy volutes, in the shape of a crosier, are attached to the upright, entwined by two facing snakes, fixed at the top on the ring of the mount. The removable interior, in engraved crystal, is decorated in the lower part with gadroons. It is from the 19th century but probably not original. French work from the first half of the 19th century. 950/1000 silver, Michelangelo's head hallmark (1819-1838). Paris guarantee hallmark. Master goldsmith hallmark: Dupezard SJ.
