The stone is rectangular with cut sides, the back is faceted.
The coat of arms is that of the von Lagerström family, originally from Pomerania.
They can be blazoned as follows: "Party: 1 or a lion sable, holding a laurel branch vert; 2 azure with two wavy bands argent." Crest: a laurel branch vert, placed pale; between two ostrich feathers, or and azure. Lambrequins: to the dexter and sable, to the sinister argent and azure.
I thank the French Heraldry group for the identification of these arms.
The engraving is of remarkable quality, very faithfully executed with a reproduction of the finest details.
The Lagerströms are an important Swedish family ennobled in 1691. Magnus von Lagerstrom (1691-1736) presided over the commission that managed the first land registry on German soil.
His youngest son was the director of the Swedish East India Company. Thanks to this position he built up collections in ethnography and natural history that he bequeathed to the Swedish crown and to the famous naturalist Carl von Linné. He gave his name to the Lagerstroemia or Indian Lilac found in the south of France. The following generations gave many sons who were soldiers in the Prussian army.
Magnificent engraved intaglios of the coats of arms of a very great historical family.
