Paris. Master on May 7, 1766. Originally from Germany, Rübestück settled in the Faubourg Saint-Antoine before obtaining his mastery on May 7, 1766. He then moved to rue de la Roquette then rue de Charenton. This meticulous and skillful cabinetmaker unfortunately had a strong penchant for drink and the separation from his wife prevented him from making the most of his talent. Although he was able to adapt easily to changing styles, it can also be noted that many of his creations were made using a foreign technique. Most of his Louis XV and Louis XVI furniture, with its classical forms and finely chiseled bronze frames, were covered in black and gold varnish with Chinese decorations of pagodas and lake landscapes. Despite producing a large amount of high-quality furniture, Rubestuck ended his life miserably and without an heir; the small amount of his estate was given to the King by "right of windfall".
