Charles CHAPLIN is a painter and engraver born in Les Andelys in 1825. He was a student of Drolling at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. His style is inspired by that of Boucher, a painter mainly of women, intimate and society portraits. He became the official painter of the Second Empire. Empress Eugénie entrusted him with many decorations including that of the Palais de l'Elysée, the Palais Garnier and the Tuileries. From 1845 to 1868 he participated in the Salon. His paintings are present in many museums, in France and abroad. Museums: Paris Musée d'Orsay, Lille, Lyon, Reims. Buenos Aires Florence
