Beautiful Louis XV style silver plated cutlery set.
100 pieces in silver plated metal for 12 people including:
12 table knives, 24.5 cm,
12 table spoons, 20.5 cm,
12 table forks, 20.5 cm,
12 fish knives, 19.8 cm,
12 fish forks, 18 cm,
12 cheese/dessert knives, 20.5 cm,
12 tea/coffee/dessert spoons, 13.5 cm,
12 cake forks, 16 cm.
Serving pieces:
1 stew serving place setting, 2 pieces: spoon and fork: 25.2 cm,
1 cake server, 24.8 cm,
1 soup ladle, 32.2 cm.
The blades of the knives are made of stainless steel, the handles and cutlery are made of silver plated metal.
Excellent condition, few visible scratches from use and very beautiful shine.
Alfénide brand on the knife blades.
Alfénide hallmark in full. "OC" hallmark with a horse's head for "Orfèvrerie Christofle".
Alfénide is a goldsmith brand created in the 19th century by a certain Charles Halphen and bought by Christofle at the beginning of the 20th century. Christofle used the Alfénide brand to produce some of their models that duplicated others in their range.
Thus the two hallmarks coexist for this model.
They are exactly the same cutlery, exactly the same design, produced in the same workshops, only the hallmark changes,
"Alfénide" for the pieces from the 50s and Christofle for the more recent pieces.
