Barrel, left side, dated 81, for 1781 and bearing the stamp B under the crown of the controller Berthéas (in charge from 1777 to 1785).
Cap stamped with the J under the crown of the reviser of the fittings Javelle (in charge from 1777 to 1784).
On the lock side, the wood is dated MARS 1781, the date of receipt of the finished weapon, and bears the initial A of the inspector Argout (in charge from 1777 to 1781) and the B with the fleur-de-lys of the controller of the finished weapon Boulanger (in charge from 1763 to 1784).
It is rare to find a Mle 1777 chest pistol in this condition, because these weapons were used over a very long period, even under the Empire.
