"Pistol Mle 1763/66"
1763 pistol modified 66 by shortening the barrel and removing the capucine. Almost all of the 1763 pistols, considered too long by the troops, were subject to regulatory shortening.
Flat hammer lock engraved "Manufre Royle a St Etienne" and bearing the hallmark of Honoré Blanc, controller in St Etienne from 1763 to 1774. Iron bassinet.
Left side of the barrel dated 65 for 1765. The hallmark of the gun controller is partly erased. Breech tail marked M 1763.
Some of the brass fittings bear the PJ hallmark with fleur-de-lys. The cap bears the serial number F 10, F designating the company, 10 the number of the weapon in the company.
On the back of the counterplate, the wood bears the reception stamp of the finished weapon, which bears the initials of the controller and the Inspector under the fleur-de-lys.
This weapon is in very good condition with a beautiful patina.
