Object description :

"Reversible Vases Into Candlesticks In Gilded Bronzes Louis XVI Style 19th Century "
Elegant Pair of Covered Vases that can be used as candlesticks in gilded and chiseled bronzes, reminiscent of small covered vases placed on Doric columns. The finely chiseled gilded bronze mount highlights the richness of the decoration. The handles with goat heads and falling garlands decorated with fruits and foliage. The whole is richly decorated with moldings and fluting, pearls, striations. The top part ends with a beautiful and rich floral bouquet composed of vine leaves, bunches of grapes, wheat, and pomegranates. The whole rests on a square base with cavetto molding and with projections and pearls and sinuous dishes. These objects bear eloquent witness to the European craze for Antiquity, a major influence that profoundly marked French decorative arts between the end of the 18th and the 19th century. This magnificent pair of covered vases reveals an ingenious dual use: by lifting their lids, they transform into candlesticks. It is important to emphasize that, despite their small size, the quality and finesse of the gilded bronze frame have not suffered any compromise. The work carried out is a work of goldsmithing and the know-how of the bronzier.
