I am offering these 2 superb watercolors by Jules Lucien Giraudeau-Laurent (1854-1922) representing views of the island of Ré in 1910. - one representing the beach of Trousse Chemise animated by 2 characters, signed and dated lower right + located on the back. - the other a view with mill and Rétaise in traditional dress, signed and dated lower right + located on the back. The 2 measure excluding frame 9x13.5cm and 27.5x32cm including frame. I am selling them for €290 per pair or €160 each of your choice. Authentic guarantees I no longer present Jules Lucien Giraudeau-Laurent (1854-1922) one of the 3 most famous painters of the island of Ré with his brother Louis Napoléon Joseph Giraudeau and Louis Suire. Coming from a family of millers from Ré, he was a teacher in Saintes and then a drawing teacher at the high school in La Rochelle. His brother was also a drawing teacher but in Niort. He worked in both oil and watercolor, but the latter brought him more success. He was the teacher of Louis Suire. He painted landscapes most of the time of his native island. He wrote and illustrated Legends of the Isle of Ré with Louis Suire and wrote Louis Blanchon's book The Islands of Saintonge and Aunis. He was curator of the La Rochelle museum from 1913 to 1930. Present at the museums of La Rochelle and the Ernest Cognacq Geay museum in Saint Martin en Ré.
