Object description :

"Powder Pear Popular Art In Boxwood Called Pulverin - XVIIIth Century "
Small powder flask called “pulverin” – Folk Art

A rare and charming object, this small powder flask, carved with a knife in a popular style, seduces with its decorations on two contrasting sides and rich in symbols.

Side 1: An animated hunting scene where characters and animals rub shoulders, strongly recalling the popular imagination and rural traditions.
Side 2: A solar wheel decorated with animals, completed with figures such as “Madame qui l'attend de pieds ferme” on one side, and, on the other, either a representation of a titmouse – evoking “Perhaps Liberty” – or a simple pigeon, opening the way to multiple interpretations.
Period: based on the decoration, and by looking closely at the hunter's flintlock rifle, we can place it between the 18th century or the very beginning of the 19th century.
Condition: good, nice patina.

This piece, both decorative and evocative, is an invitation to dream and reflect on strong cultural themes. Through its originality and aesthetics, it stands out as a fine example of popular art, intended for both collectors and lovers of unique objects full of history.
