Lit: Antoine Auguste Thivet, born in Paris in 1856, was a French painter. The son of Étienne Eugène Thivet, a decorative painter, he studied with Jean-Léon Gérôme at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He exhibited at the Salon from 1877. He became a member of the Société des artistes français. He was awarded an honorable mention in 1899. An annual exhibition of his work was held in his studio at 1 rue Saint-Claude in Paris. In 1913, he exhibited ‘Les Bouillons at the Salon. He liked to add a touch of humor to his works. He died at his home on Boulevard Voltaire in 1927.
‘La princesse lointaine’ is a play, a comedy in four acts and verse by Edmond Rostand, first performed in Paris on 5 April 1895 at the Théâtre de la Renaissance. The star of the show was Sarah Bernardt called « La Divine”. She is considered one of the most important actresses of the late 19th century.
