Large Louis XVI Style Clock Large Louis XVI style gilt bronze and white marble clock decorated with a flute player and a musician Cupid. Round white enameled dial, marked "DABERT à PARIS" in black with Roman numeral hour markers. Rectangular base with central projection with three cartouches decorated with mascarons and interlacing. The base in the shape of white marble, resting on six ball feet. The movement signed FIEFFE à PARIS from the 18th century, it is probably a cartel movement adapted to our clock. The movement modified, the gong reported. Works perfectly, strikes the hours and half hours. Small accidents and lack of enamel on the dial Light wear and oxidation to the gilding. FIEFFE in Paris (around 1725 - 1770) Jean-Jacques Fieffé was one of the most famous Parisian clockmakers of the reign of Louis XV. After becoming a master in October 1725, he set up his workshop on Quai de l'Horloge. Appointed Clockmaker to the Observatory, he immediately met with immense success among the great Parisian lovers of luxury clocks. Among his clients was the Duke of Chaulnes and in the second half of the 18th century some of his creations are mentioned by the greatest collectors of the time, notably two clocks at the home of Abbé Michel-Claude Judde and Robert Galleran des Roziers, quartermaster of the Maison du Roy, as well as a small alcove cartel briefly described at the home of Marie-Maximilienne, Princess of Salm-Kirbourg.
