"India, 16th Century, Very Old Jain Bronze Statue Of Goddess Ambika."
India, 16th century, superb and rare Jain bronze statue of the goddess Ambika. She is represented standing on a pedestal, leaning against a mandorla, wearing a dhoti with a small Jina on her head. She holds a child on her left arm and what appears to be a weapon in her right hand. The goddess is flanked by her "animal yahana", a lion, at the bottom of her left side and another child standing at the bottom of her right side. Beautiful red and green patina. Condition: old accident at the bottom of both legs and heavy abrasion due to old age, without affecting the beautiful aesthetics.
Height 8.5 cm. The scale indicator in the last photograph is a small model of a lighter from a well-known brand.
