Born on 6 February 1950 in Belgrade, Dragan spent his childhood and youth in the paternal home of Ostruznica located about ten kilometers from Belgrade, on the right bank of the river Sava. His love of art dates back to his early childhood. He presents his first works to the public at the age of twenty-two, during his first stay in Paris. After a short period in Montmartre, the only open-air studio recognized worldwide, he begins a very fruitful cooperation with the Parisian galleries "Au grillon", "Galerie 93" and "Galerie Mona Lisa" and the gallery "Naïfs du monde".
Naïve painting was in full expansion in the 70s, he became one of the regular exhibitors of the most prestigious Parisian painting shows (the Salon des Indépendants, the Salon d'Automne...) and any other important collective exhibition.
Inspired by the art of the naive painters then Yugoslav, he very quickly succeeded in his efforts to infuse soul in his paintings and to transform them thematically into fairy tales, Thus leaving the old stereotyped themes that most naive painters used to resort to.
His greatest success came in Canada, where he exhibited with a few renowned European and Canadian self-taught painters at the opening of the Jeannine Blais Gallery in 1985. His works were highly regarded in this part of North America.
During the period 1992-1998, at the Concours International d'Art Naïf, organized four times by the Jeannine Blais Gallery in collaboration with TV7, with the participation of about 100 painters from all over the world, he won each time the Grand Prix awarded by the jury. On this occasion, the Musée National de la Ville de Québec is organizing its solo exhibition from June to September 1999.
In 1995, the "Jeannine Blais Gallery" organized on the occasion of its 10th anniversary.a solo exhibition, presenting some 50 paintings and a luxurious monograph entitled “DRAGAN”. This exhibition was devoted to the entire work of Michel Dupont, executed from 1973 – 1995, while in 2002 the gallery organized its 5th solo exhibition and published a catalogue representing his paintings from 1999 – 2002.
While pursuing his career in Canada, he continues to cooperate with fellow painters as well as with the organizers of European exhibitions and exhibits regularly in Belgium, Spain, Italy, Poland and throughout France.
His works are in numerous private collections, as well as at the “Musée d'Art Naïf – Max Fourny” in Paris and the “Musée de Sherbrooke” in Canada.
