Miniature in glass églomisé and fixed under glass representing an allegorical scene celebrating the military hero, where ladies under the empire get excited in front of a helmeted Mars statue from antiquity. The oval miniature in a gilded brass frame stands out from a mahogany veneered background. Empire-Restoration period, early 19th century. This is a "very large miniature", one of those small detailed objects that complete an Empire or early 19th century decor to create an authentic atmosphere. Presented here in a beautiful frame. Very good condition, frame cleaned, gilding well preserved. Frame: 31.8cm x 24.8cm Miniature: 18.5cm x 16cm
