18th Century Wrought Iron Door Knocker.

Large door knocker with its wrought iron plate. The hammer takes the form of a loop with swollen ends around a percussion mass. The rotating elements have a robust design as can be found on many pieces from the same period. The wrought iron plate, rolled and cut open, soars and unfolds amply in an order of perfect symmetry. Placed on the front door of the property to "knock it like a battering ram", the door knocker evokes a refinement and luxury that the owner claims. Good condition with traces of wear and tear, mounted on a wooden presentation board. Dimensions of the plate: 28.5 cm, width 18 cm.
