BLADE: The blades of the Poulouars are generally of much better quality than those of their cousins the Talwars. They are directly inspired by Persian models, or even were for some of them made in Persia.
It is a blade of good quality, very robust, with a thick back, which has two fullers on each side, and a counter edge on the last 22 cm near the tip.
The external face is in a beautiful state of preservation, while the internal face shows signs of oxidation, which could be partially attenuated by manual polishing.
Blade length = 77 cm, width near the handle = 4.2 cm, thickness near the handle = 6.8 mm
HILT : it is made of iron with the classic method of fixing by a resin, completed by a rivet in the center of the guard.
The guard has two quillons curved towards the blade, which end in the shape of stylized fabulous animal heads. The pommel is a flattened sphere in the shape of a squash.
It is a beautiful weapon, quite rare in Europe, and of a blade quality above most of these swords.
