Oil painting on canvas from the early 20th century, art deco, depicting a Parisian market, Les Halles, by Edmond Girard Mond. Animated and colorful painting by Girard Mond located around 1927, when he lived at 49 bd de Port Royal, address marked on the back of the painting. Girard Mond was a talented painter and illustrator, who lived in Montparnasse where he rubbed shoulders with André Lhote and Henri Goetz. He participated in the Salon des Indépendants and many works were purchased by the state. Here is a very interesting work depicting the Les Halles market, noted on the back. Note the beautiful light worked by the artist and illuminating a very beautiful fauve palette. Presence of the original carved and patinated wooden frame of good size, 66 by 58 cm.
