HELMET OF AN OFFICER OF CUIRASSIERS, model 1825 modified 1830, July Monarchy. 30202 Bomb in silver-plated copper, depth approximately 18 cm. Headband in gilded brass stamped on a sandblasted background with a flaming bomb framed by laurel and oak branches. Visor and neck cover in silver-plated copper each edged with a gilded brass reed folded astride the outer edge, lining in green sheepskin for the visor, black for the neck cover. Width of the visor 6 cm. Crest in gilded brass stamped composed of a mask stamped on a sandblasted background with a palmette surmounted by a head of Medusa in relief; two fins struck on a sandblasted background with a decreasing series of 13 gadroons framed by pearls and drops, their base is cut into large festoons fixed to the bomb by 4 round-headed screws per fin and interior nuts. H of the mask 11 cm. Gilded brass aigrette holder composed of an olive decorated on a sandblasted background with palmettes, a serrated disc representing palmettes and placed at the top of the olive, and a socket with an upper edge cut into a festoon, with laurel branches and palmettes on a sandblasted background; scarlet horsehair puff. Plume holder with a square section slightly decreasing towards the bottom in gilded brass engraved on the corners and decorated in the upper part with a frieze of foliage. H 4.5 cm. Gilded brass chinstraps in the shape of chiseled interlaced 8s mounted on a leather chin strap; Round rosette in gilded brass stamped with a radiant sun, fixed to the bomb by means of a chiseled flat-head screw. Black horsehair mane, in the shape of a brush ending in a floating tail with an apparent length of approximately 36 cm, H 6.5 cm at the front. The whole is mounted on a leather sole tightened at the back of the bomb by means of a steel screw. Inner headdress in leather cut into seven wolf teeth. Total H 36 cm. France. July Monarchy. Very good condition, some wear to the bomb and to the inner headdress, shortened floating tail.
