BLADES: After a very short ricasso of 8mm, they take a triangular section with 3 hollow sides, they are naturally of strictly identical shape and length. They are in good condition, with a few small barely visible marks of fighting.
At the base of the blade is engraved the signature "Coulaux & Cie Klingenthal", fully readable on one of the blades and on the other if "Coulaux et Cie" is very readable, "Klingenthal" is almost erased.
This is therefore a commercial production of the Klingenthal Manufacture as they were made to meet private orders. On the other side, we note 2 control punches, which are obviously the mark of quality manufacturing:
a punch with a G surmounted by a star which seems to correspond to VJ Guidonet, director from March to November 1823 and a punch poorly visible on one of the blades and which after examination on the other blade, seems to me to be a C without a crown or star, which would correspond to the commercial manufacturing of the Coulaux company.
Length of the blades = 82.2 cm, width near the guard = 1.8 cm, balance point 1 cm from the ricasso, which gives these weapons a very good balance when handling.
GUARDS: Rectangular in shape with rounded corners, they are made of richly chiseled brass. They have a so-called "point breaker" edge that is no longer found on weapons after the middle of the 19th century. The decoration represents a profusion of plant motifs.
POMMELS: They are made of brass, in the shape of faceted urns, chiseled in high relief with plants and oval medallions.
GRIPS :: They are covered in brown leather, and surrounded by a brass wire binding twisted in chevrons, in perfect condition.
In conclusion, this is a pair of dueling swords of an unusual shape, in very good original condition, whose blades are clearly identified as a production of the Klingenthal Manufacture, in response to a private order
