Absolutely gorgeous necklace with large uniquely shaped baroque pearls. The real freshwater pearls are bright white with a rose overtone and absolutely stunning.It is hand strung on silk cord and has a secure 18k gold clasp. Approximately 18” in length including the clasp.
Each pearl is hand knotted and is nearly 15 mm in length
To create a large baroque pearl, you need two things. First, you need a mollusc that has grown large enough to accommodate a giant pearl. Then you need time. Because pearls grow at around 1mm a year. So farming giant pearls is a risky, time consuming business as in some cases the mollusc can only cope with a single pearl in residence.
