It rests on four arched legs decorated with gilded brass threads.
The lock bears the prestigious TAHAN ÉBÉNISTE stamp of HM the Emperor.
Maison Tahan was designated Supplier to the King and Princes and in 1855 Supplier to the Emperor. It received a gold medal in 1867 at the Universal Exhibition.
His store was located at 34 rue de la Paix from 1849 to 1866 then 11 Boulevard des Italiens from 1866 to 1878.
