Pair Of Candelabra With Winged Sphinxes From The Empire-consulate Period.

Pair of Empire-Consulate period candelabra in patinated and gilded bronze in two tones, matt and shiny, representing winged sphinxes supporting a woven basket hollowed out with channels topped with a flaming lekythos.
From this emerge three branches of light in the shape of stylized cornucopias and decorated with foliage. Conical base decorated with flower vases in applique, resting on lion claws, the circular counter-base.

Beautiful condition of conservation, original mercury gilding, wear.
Old restorations, notably at the base of a light arm.

Empire-Consulate period, 1800-1810.
