"16th Century High Relief - Battle Scene - Carved Wood -"
Very high relief in carved wood depicting a combat scene between infantrymen. The character on the right is a blindfolded prisoner with his hands tied to a tree trunk. The background is made up of trees and, on the right, a castle appears on the hill. Traces of green, yellow and red polychromy on the warriors' clothes. The relief is in the shape of an arc of a circle, on its base forming a border there is the trace of a cartouche containing a long inscription almost entirely erased. Work from the 16th century, probably Italian.

Condition report: good condition but traces of erosion and various losses are reported on the infantrymen. Polychromy absent. An element of the decoration appears to be missing on the far left. The ends of the base show a saw mark as well as two places under it. Presence of old traces of insect bites.
