"Souyeux Establishments (attributed A) : "huge Art-deco Enfilade""
Souyeux Establishments (attributed to): “Exceptional Art Deco sideboard”, Macassar ebony veneer on the outside and sycamore on the inside. 92 X 299 X 50 (on the casing) or 54 cm (on the handles). Numerous small losses of veneer, especially on the handles and on the edges of the drawers, varnished chanci on the top where there is also a deep scratch, some drawers slide poorly. Despite its imposing dimensions, this piece of furniture does not look massive thanks, among other things, to the recessed plinth and the external boxes of suspended drawers added to the already large original piece of furniture, certainly a special order. The Souyeux Establishment was a very important cabinetmaking company in Nay (Pyrénées Atlantiques) which, for decades, employed many workers and during the interwar period specialized in neo-Basque furniture and Art Deco furniture of very high quality and exotic wood veneer that they exported all over the world.
