"15th Century Leather And Wood Book Case"
Beautiful and rare specimen of a book box dating from the end of the 15th century. The case, worn over the shoulder, was intended to protect a precious work during its transport (missal, book of hours, manuscript or printed matter). A cord, absent here and generally made of braided silk, ended with a knot after the last loop. Dimensions: 215 x 140 x 75 mm. Wooden core covered in boiled brown leather incised with stylized spirals and foliage. Lack of leather at the bottom of the lower part of the box. Strictly original condition, without restoration.
