Charcoal drawing depicting Venus asleep against a classical landscape background. Signed and dated lower left: Bouchardy fils 1813. Etienne Bouchardy (1797-1840), portrait painter, miniaturist, student of Gros and Sicardi. He exhibited at the Salon in 1819, 1822, 1824 and 1848. Original palmette frame from the prestigious Maison Giroux "Le marchand des Princes) , 7 rue du Coq St Honoré in Paris. Good condition with slight foxing on the edges and age wear on the frame. 34 x 28.5 cm with the frame.
