Veillon first studied Theology before devoting himself to painting in 1857 in the studio of François Diday in Geneva then at the School of Fine Arts in Paris in 1858 where he met Eugène Fromentin. He traveled to London, Rome then settled in Geneva. In 1873 he traveled to Italy then to Egypt. He visited Tunisia in 1884, Egypt again in 1885, Jerusalem and Palestine in 1886, Syria in 1887, Turkey and Greece in 1888. He appeared at the Salon des Artistes Français. His works are exhibited in the Museums of Basel, Bern, Geneva, Zurich...
