Object description :

"Planter And Pedestal In Glazed Ceramic Signed Delphin Massier, Vallauris, 19th Century"
Set of planter and pedestal in polychrome enameled ceramic, signed Delphin Massier, Vallauris (AM), witness to the refinement of late 19th century productions. The planter with a spherical body and hemmed neck, resting on its pedestal with a conical tubular body, presents a sumptuous floral decoration of rose bushes in bloom, finely hand-painted in shades of yellow and green, contrasting with a background gradated from pink to red. The shiny enamel sublimates the composition and gives a pictorial effect of great softness, characteristic of the creations of Delphin Massier, master ceramist of Vallauris. Characteristics: • Period: Late 19th century • Signature: Delphin Massier, Vallauris (AM), incised under the planter • Material: Polychrome enameled ceramic • Decoration: Yellow roses and foliage on a gradient background • Dimensions: • Total height: 120 cm • Diameter of the planter: 52 cm • Condition: Very good condition, slight wear from use About Delphin Massier Heir to a dynasty of innovative ceramicists, Delphin Massier distinguished himself with his work on polychrome enamels and his approach inspired by nature. His workshop in Vallauris was one of the precursors of the revival of ceramics at the end of the 19th century, developing pieces with shapes and decorations influenced by Art Nouveau.
