"Satsuma Earthenware Censer , Kyoto, Japan, Circa 1900."
Ostrich egg-shaped censer in fine Satsuma earthenware. Decorated with a thousand flowers in polychrome enamels and gold details on finely crackled glass. Below the artist's mark. This small perfume burner is an exceptional Satsuma model due to its rare shape, the quality of its perfect glass (as much by its ivory color as by its regular and fine crackle) and by its rare very artistic decoration of the 1000 flowers. Perfect firing. We have not yet researched who the artist was, certainly one of the best ceramists of his time. Japanese work, Kyoto kilns, Meiji period. Perfect condition. Height: 133mm.
