Elegant pendulum clock on its base, of very good manufacture, from the Napoleon III period. Stamped on its mechanism "Etienne Maxant Breveté Paris", clockmaker listed in the Tardy, dictionary of French clockmakers. Architecture in solid Carrara marble with two detached fluted columns. Fine and rich ornamentation in gilded bronze, decoration on four sides of foliage and flower scrolls, the upper part highlighted by a row of gadroons is decorated with a basin decorated with handles and a garland of falling flowers as well as two pine cones at the ends above each column.
Protected by a domed glass set in a chiseled bezel. Domed dial in finely worked white enamel, with a gilded dot at each hour and gilded hands.
Original mechanism without modification. Spiral suspension. Chime at the hour and a half on an old bell.
