"China - Horsewoman - Early Tang Dynasty - Tl"
Pretty Chinese horsewoman in terracotta with slip and polychromy from the Tang Dynasty. She is wearing a shawl covering her face as well and tied at the back. She is dressed in a long orange dress with long sleeves, tightened above the waist. The horse is saddled and stands on a terrace, its head leaning forward, its mane braided and falling on its left side. The tail is straight and hanging. Beautifully preserved polychromy. This horsewoman can be dated as being from the very beginning of the Tang Dynasty, as much by the style of the horse as by that of the character herself. A thermoluminescence test accompanies the object certifying its authenticity. Origin: China Dimensions: Height: 33.5 cm; Length: 26 cm. Period: Early Tang Dynasty (618-906).
