Two large vintage albumen prints of the portal of the Saint-Trophime Cathedral in Arles by the BISSON brothers. Image size 35 x 44.5 cm Mounting 43 x 55 cm Under mat 50 x 65 cm Albumen prints glued to cardboard and subsequently mounted under mat, located in pencil, numbered 48 and 49 and captioned on a printed and glued label, in the margin at the bottom right and bearing the dry stamp EQ (Edmond Quetier, buyer of the Bisson brothers) at the bottom left. Louis Auguste BISSON (1814-1876) known as Bisson aîné and Auguste Rosalie BISSON (1826-1900) known as Bisson Jeune are two pioneers of French photography. Active since 1847, the Bisson brothers were among the first to leave the studio. Known for their large prints, they quickly gained international notoriety.
