André Poffé (Ixelles, 1911 - Wolluwe-Saint-Lambert, 1990)
Belgian painter, draftsman, watercolourist. Trained at the Academies of Brussels (1928 - 1930) and Ixelles and with his father, who was a watercolourist and draftsman. Initially found his inspiration mainly in city views (Brussels). Then he created village views of Brabant in muted or dark colours, often lit by the moon. Painted his subjects with great care. His works exude poetry. Sometimes reminiscent of Jos Albert. Towards the end of his life, his palette became lighter and more cheerful. In the press: "Andre Poffé looks at the world through sunglasses with special tints, which one only wears when one is happy and wants to see life in a different light. A quiet world; village streets, sleeping nature, Brabant seasons, these are dreamlike images of a lived reality". Was a professor at the Academy of Wolluwe-Saint-Lambert. Works in the museums of Mons and Wolluwe-Saint-Lambert.
