"Antique Jain Tirthankara Bronze Indian Jainism "
A RARE BRONZE FIGURE OF A JAIN TIRTHANKARA North-West India, H.20 cm Seated in vajrasana on a cushion with his right hand lowered in the bhumisparshamudra while the left is resting on his lap, naked, his chest cast with the srivatsa emblem in the form of a lotus-flower, his face displaying a serene expression with downcast shaped eyes and elongated earlobes touching his shoulders. There are traces of gilding in the crevasses which suggest this fine bronze was once gilded. I have dated it as nineteenth century but I think it may be earlier.
