"Military Camp By Carlo Adolfo Barone (italian, 1861 - 1936)"
This military painting was executed by good listed Italian painter Carlo Adolfo (Adolfo Carlo) Barone (1861 Naples - 1936 (according to Ceci)). Studied (at the age of 13) at the ABA Naples, in 1875 one of the best students at the Academy at the Promotrice "Salvator Rosa". Active as a landscape painter, later preferring to paint military subjects, e.g. Carica in Piazza d'armi (1883?), influenced by M.Cammarano, T.Saliano and G.Toma. Char. his later work is characterized by a striving for detail and expressive representation: Col pretesto di bere (formerly Cecconi collection), L'abbeverata (now in the Patroni-Griff house) and Vedute von Posillipo (Lw., formerly in the possession of Vittorio Emanuele III, now in the depots of Capodimonte).
